So, when it shakes, we run and hide and tremble with fear. Classic example: people fear earthquakes because the ground beneath us is supposed to be solid. And make no mistake that foundation has been shattered because a universal law has been violated. This then is your foundation as you go into the world. But if it was the one who loved you unconditionally you are left with a sole guardian whose love you will never receive even though you try and try and try. And when a parent dies, that is such a loss. Know this: For that parent that conditionally loves you, or even worse, abandons you, for them, you will never be good enough and worthy of their love. The irony is that when you do, there is always something else. They withhold that love until we do what they want – even if it is requiring us to be something that we are not. We take the unconditional love for granted because we are always trying to please the one who loves us conditionally…because, as a child, we simply cannot understand what we are doing wrong that our mother or father does not love us. Unfortunately, most of us have one parent who loves us unconditionally and one that loves us conditionally. CHAPTER TWO – CONDITIONAL AND UNCONDITIONAL LOVE We are born into this world with two parents who are supposed to love us unconditionally, provide for our needs until we can do this ourselves understand our cries and take care of our needs – feed us, change us, or simply, just hold us until we can speak for ourselves.
